Description
Summary:Based on ethnographic fieldwork in a Buenos Aires middle class neighbourhood, the author discusses the place of men’s weeping among Porteño emotional Catholics. The ritual contexts of weeping are analyzed in relation to well-being, their cosmological terms, as well as their bodily techniques and native’s notions. Finally, the conditions of an ethnography of emotions are questioned by discussing the idea of bodily experience of weeping and its implicit closeness with the modern Western cosmology. The emphatic relationship between researcher and natives is nuanced by a possible approach between contrastive modes of differential articulation inside an individualistic universe.
