This statement, implying that one does not feel human, is a profoundly sad comment on the way one who has dementia may feel. Is this a common experience for those who have dementia? What are we doing, or not doing, that people with dementia can feel that way? The aim of this project was to develop an understanding of some of the experiences of those who have dementia to provide them with more appropriate and effective pastoral care. The project covered several areas-loneliness, fears, prayer, difficult times, and disempowerment as experienced by those who have dementia. Seven people who have a diagnosis of dementia were interviewed.
