Seules les confiscations révolutionnaires diversifient réellement les fonds. Par la suite, l'entrée des exemplaires dans cette collection publique ressortit de façon de plus en plus nette à des critères de curiosité bibliographique, les achats ne commençant vraiment qu'à la fin du 19e siècle, peut-être en lien avec la naissance de la SHPF. Les entrées dues à des legs ou à des dons, et provenant de collectionneurs privés, restent cependant décisives pendant toutes ces décennies. Sur le long terme, elles compensent l'absence séculaire d'acquisitions raisonnées, qui sont récentes. The collections of the Bibliothèque nationale de France show the ups and downs of Calvin's reception in France: very few entries in the sixteenth century, and practically no sermons and no exegesis for the next two centuries. One had to wait for the French revolution and its confiscations to see a reversal of that trend. Later on bibliographical curiosity prevailed while systematic acquisitions started at the end of the nineteenth century, probably with the birth of the Société de l'Histoire du Protestantisme Français. Legacies or gifts from private donors remained decisive until recently. Die Bestände der Bibliothèque nationale de France beweisen die wechselnde Rezeption von Calvins Werk in Frankreich. Sie besitzt fast kein Exemplar, das schom im 16. Jahrhundert angeschaffen worden sei. Erst in der zweiten Hälfte des 17. und im 18. Jahrhundert wird der Katalog reicher an calvinischen Titeln (mit Ausnahme der exegetischen und Predigtwerken). Dank der Vermögensbeschlagnahmen der französischen Revolution erweitert sich nachher das Spektrum. Im 19. Jahrhundert kommen noch Titel dazu, die sich immer mehr aus bibliographischem Interesse für merkwürdige Ausgaben oder Exemplare erklären. Anschaffungen beginnen erst am Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts, vielleicht in Verbindung mit der Gründung der Société de l'Histoire du protestantisme français. Während derselben Periode bleiben doch die Aufnahmen vorwiegend, die sich aus Vermächtnis oder Spende von Privatpersonen ergeben. Langfristig haben derartige Aufnahmen den jahrhundertelangen Mangel an systematischen Anschaffungen ausgeglichen. | ||
