Dans cette province où, à l'époque romaine, cohabitaient des populations monothéistes et polythéistes, l'examen de la place qu'y tint la "Fortune" pourrait servir d'indicateur de la diffusion du paganisme. Mais, avant de décider si Tychè était une entité divine distincte ou un aspect individualisé de la grande divinité locale, il faut préalablement s'assurer qu'elle était une forme divine. Car cette figure peut renvoyer à deux réalités différentes: soit une déesse de la Fortune honorée comme telle et qui entre donc dans une représentation polythéiste du monde, soit une notion abstraite personnalisée, donc une figure symbolique -- une image. Pour définir la nature de la figure de Tychè et apprécier la réalité de son culte dans la Palaestina romaine, nous irons d'abord à la recherche des quatre sanctuaires pouvant être reconstitués. Nous nous attacherons ensuite à dessiner les diverses facettes de la figure de Tychè et ses relations avec les autres divinités. Cette seconde partie de l'enquête pourra pour sa part s'appuyer plus justement sur une documentation seulement numismatique puisqu'elle montrera que la figure de Tychè fonctionnait comme un langage. /// The entry of Judaea-Palestine into a world structured on the polis called for the development of a Hellenistic-type, protective Tyche. In this province where mono- and polytheistic populations cohabited in the Roman period, the study of "Fortune'"s position could be used as an indication of the spread of paganism. Indeed, before deciding if Tyche was a distinct divine entity or a personified aspect of a great local deity, we must be sure that it was a divinity. For this figure may represent two different realities: either a Fortune goddess honoured as such and who belonged to a polytheistic representation of the world, or a personalised abstract notion, thus a symbolic figure -- an image. In order to define the nature of the Tyche figure and estimate the reality of her cult in Roman Palaestina, we shall first search for the four reconstructible sanctuaries. We shall then undertake to outline the various faces of the Tyche figure and her relationships with other deities. This second part of the enquiry could more correctly rely on solely numismatic evidence since it will show that the figure of Tyche worked like a language. /// (Unicode for Arabic abstract). | ||
