All together they prove the extension of the devotion to the great god of the mountain and storm — either Hadad or Jupiter Dolichenus — in rural communities of Northern Syria during Roman times. A Latin inscription from the Euphrates bank (Khirbet Khalid) has to be connected with the cult of Jupiter Dolichenus among Roman soldiers. | ||
