Les autres peuples peuvent « percevoir Dieu » à travers ses châtiments, bénéficier de sa patience, prendre conscience de leurs fautes et se convertir. L’accès du peuple élu et des autres peuples au niveau postconventionnel n’est pas proposé par l’auteur de la Sagesse. Cette ultime étape du développement moral n’est-elle pas à quêter dans la Bonne Nouvelle de Jésus-Christ, venu « accomplir » la Loi ? | ||
| 520 | |a The divine pedagogy described by the author of Wisdom suggests an analogy between the moral development of peoples throughout their history and the moral development of each person. In this regard, a reading of Wis 11:20-12:2 reveals the movement of the Chosen People from the pre-conventional level of moral development, in which obedience to the Decalogue is based on fear of punishment and then on maximising the benefits of the Covenant, to the conventional level, which is characterised by the appropriation of the Law. Other peoples can "perceive God" through his punishments, benefit from his patience, become aware of their faults and be converted. The author of Wisdom does not envisage the access of the Chosen People and other peoples to the post-conventional level. Is this final stage of moral development not to be sought in the Good News of Jesus Christ, he who came to "fulfil" the Law? | ||
