However, evidence presented here suggests that the Hittite crown prince played a key role in the same, being specially entrusted with the authorship of "apex genre" of the corpus: the named complex inventories. Since crown princes were in principle kings-in-training, this implies that Hittite kings, at least in the Late New Kingdom period, were experienced in the creation of economic records in the cuneiform script, even if they did not practice this skill from the throne. | ||
