Description
Résumé:Although several have noticed the similarities between the teachings of Emanuel Swedenborg and the teachings of Buddhism (among them Philangi Dasa and D. T. Suzuki), there have been no modern systematic comparisons. The parallels include teachings on the self (or, more accurately, no self), the divine, emptiness, interdependence, evil, and the spirit world. These seem to far outweigh the differences, such as some teachings on the afterlife. The similarities might be a useful bridge for facilitating Buddhist-Christian dialogue.
