C'est lui qui dut modérer les relations plutôt tendues, d'abord, entre les théologiens de prestige qui formèrent la Commission dans ses premières compositions quinquennales et, ensuite, entre eux et la Congrégation pour la Doctrine de la foi ou le pape lui-même. Il y parvint, notamment, en inventant une méthode de travail appropriée, en substituant la production collective de documents en sous-commissions à la juxtaposition de positions théologiques personnelles. Peu à peu, par des documents de mieux en mieux ajustés, la CTI fixa les traits de sa physionomie originale, ni organe du Magistère pontifical, ni forum de la contestation permanente des théologiens. | ||
| 520 | |a There was one linchpin whose role in the development and preservation of the CTI cannot be underestimated: Mgr Philippe Delhaye, its first Secretary General, between 1972 and 1989. It was he who had to moderate the rather tense relations, firstly, between the prestigious theologians who formed the Commission in its first five-yearly compositions and, secondly, between them and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith or the Pope himself. He achieved this, in particular, by inventing an appropriate working method, substituting the collective production of documents in sub-commissions for the juxtaposition of personal theological positions. Gradually, through increasingly well-tuned documents, the CTI established the features of its original physiognomy, neither an organ of the pontifical Magisterium nor a forum for permanent protest by the theologians. | ||
