Summary: | This study was conducted in order to fill an existing gap within the field of religious education, specifically regarding standardisation within evangelical education aimed at teaching the youth within the church. There is currently no standardisation of education between sects nor within individual sects of evangelical Christianity, and this fosters an environment of inconsistency in the field of youth ministry. This is significant because the shortcomings of the current evangelical youth programmes could potentially deprive the youth of social and psychological benefits associated with the religious involvement. In order to find out how to formulate a standardised evangelical apologetics curriculum, a curriculum was developed and then critiqued by various clergymen through their answering of an open-ended questionnaire which asked them for their opinion on every major aspect of the curriculum. At the conclusion of the study, the results partially supported the initial hypothesis with a few modifications in terms of shortening the length of the program, utilising a variety of teaching methods instead of just a conversational approach, and adding a pre-test as well as extra falsifiable tests for the teachers to gauge the students’ mastery of the subject matter. c s |
