This essay examines the place of the concept of God in King's thought, concentrating on the last period of his life, when King took some of his most radical stands on social issues. This examination focuses on four elements in King's understanding of God: God as moral, God as powerful and able, God as loving, and fellowship with God in the struggle for justice as "cosmic companionship."
