An examination reveals that religious and spiritual activities are an integral part of the program in most homes, yet the directors tend to identify spiritual benefits in terms of social work concepts. Analysis of the findings indicates that there are two categories of respondents: (1) the professionally-minded and (2) the religiously-minded (larger in number). Spiritual benefits, though including a wide array of values and aspects, are identified through the following: (1) personal contacts with priest and religious, (2) personal contact with lay personnel, and (3) the relation to God through religious rites. Finally, it appears that spiritual values are for many inseparable from the total life and situation of the client.
