Summary: | In a study of pastoral morale, 172 Seventh-day Adventist pastors in the United States and Canada were surveyed. While most pastors were generally happy in their work, a substantial minority have had a variety of low morale experiences. A relationship was found between pastoral morale and pastor-spouse relationships. Pastors suggested a wide range of changes in the structure of the pastorate that would make the ministry a more fulfilling profession. In addition to relieving pastors of the administrative minutiae of the church, these changes would involve more continuing education with its development of talents and abilities and a more equal relationship with conference administrators, including input into conference goals and programs. |
