The results most importantly revealed the Intrinsic-End dimension to be directly related to age with an opposite relationship evident for the Interactional-Quest continuum. In general, responding on the Interactional scale appeared to peak in late adolescence and early adulthood. These data suggest that an Interactional-Quest orientation reflects a kind of searching for answers that is typical of individuals seeking to resolve identity issues and that Quest may serve as a precursor to an Intrinsic form of commitment.
