Data from the 1993 National Black Politics Study demonstrate that holding a black image of Christ is positively related to a desire for racial autonomy, but does not enhance racial solidarity, voting behavior, or a belief that churches should be involved in politics. This study shows that only about 30% of respondents had a black image of Christ and highlights the need for the examination of cultural variations within established religious communities. | ||
