The three communities were designated according to their predominant orientation as rule-oriented, task-oriented and profession-oriented. Examination of channels of decision-making and opinion gathering techniques lent support to the hypothesis that differences in the original orientations of the three communities tended to result in differences of organizational structure and communication.
