Most of the relationships are not strong. However, all of them are consistent. Ancestral cult is found to be associated with the extended form of family; Christianity is found to be related to the rejection of the ancestral cult; Chinese Christians are found to be less likely to have the extended family; and Chinese Christian teenagers are found to be less willing to live with their parents when they get married. In sum, the hypothesis appears to deserve more careful examination in future research.
