520 | |a In the article by Michael I. Harrison “The Maintenance of Enthusiasm: Involvement in a New Religious Movement” (SA 1975, 36, 2:150–160) the following should have appeared before the final paragraph (159): “Although Catholic Pentecostalism has developed considerable organizational strength, it has not done so without encountering dilemmas inherent in institutionalization (O'Dea, 1961). Institutionalization channels religious experience and constrains it. As this process continues, the possibility is increased of an outbreak of enthusiasm in opposition to the emerging religious institutions (McLoughlin, 1959; Sweet, 1944; Wilson, 1970). Similarly, the crystallization of a leadership structure challenges the egalitarian social structure characteristic of the sectarian movements (Wilson, 1959). Thus the solution of one set of organizational problems leads to the emergence of others. Since many factors influence the course of the institutionalization process (Wilson, 1959: Zald and Asch, 1966), facile predictions about the future of a movement are indefensible.” And the following references: Wilson, Bryan. 1959. “An Analysis of Sect Development.” American Sociological Review 24:367–387. 1970.
