An analysis of the idea of “privatization,” as it applies to American religion and its place within our society, may assist in providing more clarity. To this end, I will: (1) define some phenomena which might be termed “privatization”; (2) describe some of the sources from which they spring; (3) consider whether these phenomena are becoming more prevalent; and (4) discuss some of their implications. | ||
