This paper studies it in connection with the notion of cultural exchanges. During the thirties, it remains confined to a narrow circle. Kierkegaard embodies philosophical and religious modernity. Commenting upon it, Jean Wahl and Leon Chestov construct a grammar of existence. After the war, existentialism triumphs under the auspices of Sartre and Merleau-Ponty, and Kierkegaard is acclaimed as the « father of Existentialism ». Christian thinkers make of him the rampart of atheism ; others secularize him. Anxiety prevails against the « before God ». | ||

Contemporaine de l’introduction de Heidegger, Jaspers et Barth et de l’approfondissement de la connaissance de Hegel, elle concourt à l’éclosion des philosophies de l’existence en France. Nous l’étudions en fonction de la notion de transferts culturels. Dans les années trente, elle repose sur un milieu étroit. Kierkegaard incarne une figure de modernité philosophique et religieuse. En le commentant, Jean Wahl et Léon Chestov constituent une grammaire de l’existence. Après guerre, l’existentialisme triomphe sous les auspices de Sartre et Merleau-Ponty et Kierkegaard est consacré « père de l’existentialisme ». Les penseurs chrétiens en font le rempart de l’athéisme ; les autres le laïcisent : l’angoisse l’emporte sur le « devant Dieu ». | ||
