Description
Summary:Convened by Ecumenical Patriarch Demetrius in 1976 and 1986, the purpose of these two Synods, which brought together Prelates of all the Local Orthodox Churches as representatives, was to prepare for the convocation of the Holy and Great Synod of the Orthodox Church, better organising at the same time the Church's service to contemporary mankind. The two Synods, among other things, gave rise to two important documents enshrining the Church's magisterium on interreligious dialogue and three special bodies for relations with the three monotheistic religions. All this is studied in this article, along with the Church's magisterium on interreligious relations.
