Summary: | The intersections between class and religion were of central interest to early social theorists. But in the last few decades, class has fallen out of favor as an analytic category in both sociology and religious studies. This paper traces that history and finds evidence of new life in the analysis of class and religion. It uses the particular case of religion and work to illustrate one area where class issues are pervasive and could productively be made more explicit. |
