In carrying out the research Goldman's assumptions about stage development in children's understanding of Bible stories are assessed in the light of the results. The particular areas of the research which are included and analysed in this article are: ‘Do children perceive the Bible to be relevant today?’; ‘How do children visualise God’; and ‘What do they understand by the concept of God speaking?’
