Summary: | This article aims to understand Marsilio Ficino's conception of the Socratic daemon case in his commentary on Plato's Apology of Socrates. The Ficino's argument about the Socratic daemon is based on the demonic agency over the human mind. In this case, we analyzed your comment in an attempt to clarify your ideas, notions, and your sources Middle Platonic and Neoplatonic. I claim that Ficino, when arguing about the personal daemon, produces a demonological argument with associations to the notion of divine frenzy, especially prophetic furor. In addition, Ficino defends the notion of the daemon as a mediator, guide and destiny that comes close to its natural magic presented in De Vita. |
