The development of the Hebrew language, the poetical rhythms and time in this "Hebrew branch of the Arabic literature", the themes of the poetry and the literary theories of authors as Moses ibn Ezra and Yehudah Halevi is analysed as well as the attitude of Maimonides to the poetry. The final part of the article is describing the development of Hebrew into the dominating Jewish literary language in the Sefardi world at the same time as Jews contributed to the literary development of the spoken languages of the peninsula.
