Description
Résumé:The article deals with the Norwegian black metal scene in the early 1990s, focusing on how the leading representatives perceived Satanism and the satanic expression which this scene often used. Firstly, the character of the theme appearing in the musical lyrics will be introduced and then the presentation of selected actors' personal philosophy (Gaahl, Euronymous and Grutle Kjellson) will follow. This article is concentrated on the ideology of the selected musicians in relation to black metal, and eventually, what Satanism means for them. The analysis of the available interviews of these people shows the various interpretations associated with Satanism which will provide an outline of what might be hidden in the second wave of Norwegian black metal concerning the term "Satanism".
