The main source of their dissent was the work of Peter John Olivi that had greatly influenced the recalcitrant Spiritual Franciscans of Narbonne. At the same period, a particular group of Waldensians presented a practical example of dissident ecclesiology by adopting a three-tier hierarchy outside the Roman Church. Overall, this article aims to present glimpses of the above-mentioned dissident ecclesiologies and then use them to comment on Lester R. Kurtz's sociological approach to heresy. | ||
