Summary: | In Flanders, not only the Redemptorists but also the Franciscans and Jesuits devoted themselves to doing missionary work in the parishes. During the interbellum period, however, the impact of this form of pastoral work on the population underwent a considerable decline. Consequently, the Jesuits and Franciscans attempted to adjust their efforts to the "signs of the times." Organizationally, they aimed at better preparation and broadening the system of general missionary work.
