In case these hypotheses turn out to be true, there must be civilisations and beings in the universe that have evolved to far higher levels than humans. The theological part of the paper, in its turn, is written from the perspective of astrotheology, which is a way of doing theology, embracing the contemporary scientific knowledge about the universe in the situation when the traditional theism has become unbelievable due to its logically contradictory conception of a simultaneously transcendent and personal deity. Two options are proposed how contemporary men and women can think of God in a way that may be more in line with their proficiency in scientific thinking. One alternative is pantheism, which is gaining a new momentum in the present-day understanding of the universe, while the second alternative - the author's thought experiment - proposes an updated personal theism in the context of the biological universe, imagining God as an ancient being, who has evolved immeasurably higher than humans.
