However, his main contribution - anthroposophy or Spiritual science, has been a subject of harsh academic criticism and controversy. While considered unscientific, anthroposophy has also received a designation of a sect or religious movement. This article provides a modest insight into the problem of self perception of anthroposophy, as it has been reflected in particular lectures of Rudolf Steiner himself. The thesis advanced in this study is that Rudolf Steiner introduced anthroposophy as a new worldview that would combine scientific and religious thought which, metaphorically speaking, can be defined as "the third way". The study reveals that Steiner had not intended to establish anthroposophy as a substitute to conventional science or traditional religion, at the same time, his idea of anthroposophy as a new worldview (Weltanschauung) considered from the modern point of view became problematic, as it suggested religious connotations. Therefore, one of the possible solutions to the problem of approaching anthroposophy is to consider it as a spiritual way or method, rather than dogmatic description of reality. | ||
