We hypothesized that temptation bias is moderated by religious commitment and obsessive sexual thought as measured by the Religious Commitment Inventory—10 and the Garos Sexual Behavior Index, respectively. Female college student participants reported their expected level of temptation in twelve scenarios that involved both sexual and non-sexual content. High religious commitment and high obsessive sexual thought were associated with greater temptation bias. We interpret results in terms of the motivation to maintain self-control.
