Résumé:The Religious Life Inventory (Batson & Ventis, 1982) and the Catholic Faith Inventory (Boyack, Duggan, & Heusing, 1986) were administered to 3 groups of undergraduate students at a Catholic (Jesuit) university classified according to their involvement in activities sponsored by campus ministry: a community service group, a worship group, and an uncommitted group. Discriminant analyses yielded 2 significant functions along which the 3 groups could be differentiated: questioning, a dimension along which the service group outscored both worship and uncommitted groups; and doctrine, a dimension along which the worship group outscored both control and service groups. These findings suggest that differentiating among alternative avenues for expressing one's faith commitment during college years may yield clearer insights regarding religious development and regarding the relationship between religious attitudes and behavior during college years.
