Résumé: | The article analyzes the theme of gnoseological intersubjectivity starting from the De magistro of Augustine of Hippo (354-430) and is divided into two parts. The first presents the dialectic between docere (pedagogical pre-text) and discere (gnoseological con-text), both aimed to the loqui (theme-text of intersubjectivity). The second examines the speculative dynamics proposed by Augustine, which binds teacher and student on a double level: (1.) horizontal, based on the exteriority of words, and (2.) vertical, anchored to interiority, in which the human being meets the Master of all, that Master "who is in heaven".
