Zusammenfassung:This paper suggests that ideas relating to ‘translation’ can throw light on the processes and experiences of conversion because they point to both continuities and discontinuities in the lives of converts. I use four specific claims about biblical translation made by the early twentieth century Jewish writer Franz Rosenzweig and explore how stories of converts might reflect these patterns in their ‘translated lives’.
