| Résumé: | I present and comment on various questions regarding Eliade’s method founded on his experience in meditation. The main reasons for my doubts are: no criterion for distinguishing between myth and pseudo-myth, the scholar’s personal commitment to the ideas he studied, the problem of the universal nature of the mental images that served him for meditation, the transformation of myths into allegories during tantric meditation, the effects of the interiorization forms of gods during tantric meditation, applying a method designed for the study of archaic myths to highly developed religion, and the problem of the convergence of methods founded on the meditation experience with the phenomenology of religion. |
