The main criterion for this distinction is an approach to life and death which is different in philosophical and religious Taoism. A special example of considerations concerning the category of wisdom is the thought of one of the largest Chinese philosophers, Zhuangzi. He connects the category of wisdom with the notion of uselessness. For Zhuangzi, a sage is a perfect man. Though his wisdom is expressed in uselessness, it is a result of the recognition of the nature of reality. The analysis of the category of Zhuangzi’s wisdom can constitutes an important part of the understanding of the difference between philosophical and religious Taoism. | ||
