Dans un premier temps, je discuterai de la signification de κανών dans la lettre de Paul aux Galates. Ensuite, j'analyserai sa signification dans 1 Clem 7, 2. Enfin, je mettrai en rapport l'emploi du terme dans ces écrits et l'usage qu'en ont fait les auteurs ecclésiastiques dans l'expression κανὼν τῆς ἀληθείας dans le dernier quart du iie siècle. Mon but est de prouver que, si l'expression ὁ κανὼν τῆς ἀληθείας ne nous est pas attestée avant la seconde moitié du iie siècle, ce qu'elle traduit était, dans son essence, présent dès les origines de la littérature chrétienne au milieu du ier siècle. Cet article est le premier volet d'une recherche tripartite, dont les deuxième et troisième parties seront publiées successivement dans cette revue. Dans la deuxième partie, j'examinerai les raisons pour lesquelles le christianisme primitif, même s'il confesse le Seigneur ressuscité comme réalité normative par excellence, a fini par considérer comme indispensables les témoignages écrits des événements du salut. Cette question, rarement soulevée de nos jours, mérite d'être examinée à la lumière des sources du christianisme primitif. Elle est en elle-même théologiquement pertinente et aide à situer le Canon scripturaire dans le cadre plus large du Canon de la foi. Enfin, dans le troisième article, qui tirera les conclusions des deux premières parties, je traiterai du caractère normatif et canonique de la collection des écrits apostoliques en tant que participation à la normativité et à la canonicité de l'héritage apostolique dans son ensemble, ainsi que des conséquences d'une telle collection pour les communautés chrétiennes. | ||
| 520 | |a In this article, I will deal with the meaning of the term κανών in what is called "ecclesiastical Christianity" (that of the Magna Ecclesia), not only before it was applied to a collection of Christian writings, but even before there was any canonical consciousness related to such a collection. First I will discuss the meaning of κανών in Paul’s Letter to the Galatians. Secondly, I will analyse its significance in 1 Clem 7, 2. Finally, I will relate the use of the term in these writings to the use that ecclesiastical authors made of it in the expression κανὼν τῆς ἀληθείας in the last quarter of the 2nd century. My goal is to prove that, although the expression ὁ κανὼν τῆς ἀληθείας is not attested to us before the second half of the second century, the reality it conveyed was in its essence already present from the origins of Christian literature in the mid-first century onwards. This article is the first of a three-part work, whose second and third instalments will be published successively in this journal. In the second one I mean to discuss why Early Christianity, even though confessing the risen Lord as a normative reality par excellence, ultimately considered as indispensable the written witnesses of the salvation events. This question, rarely raised nowadays, deserves some research in the light of early Christian sources. It is in itself theologically relevant and helps to situate the scriptural Canon within the broader Canon of faith. Finally, in the third article, drawing conclusions from the first two parts, I will deal with the normative character and canonicity of the collection of apostolic writings as a participation in the normativity and canonicity of the apostolic heritage as a whole, and with the consequences of such a collection for Christian communities. | ||
