Ce geste salutaire de mettre les victimes au centre représente pourtant une révolution, non seulement pour l’Église, mais pour la société entière. Un retour sur la manière dont les places respectives du « coupable » et de la victime ont évolué depuis les années 1950 le montrera. Cette évolution est notamment liée au renouveau de la question du pardon et trouve une forme pratique dans la justice restaurative, qui pourra inspirer l’Église pour l’accueil et l’accompagnement des victimes. | ||
| 520 | |a One of the most important lessons of the work of the CIASE is that the victims of crimes of sexual abuse in the Church must be placed at the centre of efforts for justice and reconciliation. Only the victims can tell us what they have suffered and what they are still experiencing, and only they can tell us what changes, including structural ones, need to be made. This salutary gesture of putting victims at the centre represents a revolution both for the Church and for our entire society, as can be seen from a review of the way in which the respective positions of perpetrators and victims have evolved since the 1950s. This evolution is notably linked to the renewal of the question of forgiveness and finds a practical form in restorative justice, which could inspire the Church to welcome and accompany victims. | ||
