| 520 | |a Yi Donhwa’s "religion in the future" was introduced in Cheondogyohoewolbo in 1919. The main idea of his theory is about the unification of the religion as described as ‘God within oneself’(自神) in Cheondogyo. On one hand, Yi Donhwa interpreted Choi Jaewoo’s Shicheonju(侍天主) as ‘God within oneself’(自神) or ‘Heaven within oneself(自天)’. Then, on the other hand, it was presented as a ‘Sage’s teaching’(聖訓). Here, ‘Sage’ refers to Son Byonghee, the founder of Cheondogyo. This is the important point as it represents the continuity of the same thought of Son Byonghee and Yi Donhwa. In addition to this, ‘Sage’s teaching’ in the "religion in the future" was newly introduced thought that was not found in the Cheondogyo scripture. Moreover, Yi Donhwa’s "religion in the future", that was introduced in late 1919, resonants with "Religion unification is inevitable tendency" and "reconstruction and religion". Therefore, "Religion in the future" is important in that it is showing a theory of God and religion of Cheondogyo, uncovering hidden thought of Son Byonghee, and representing the process of formation and development of Yi Donhwa’s thought. | ||
