Diogenes thinks of man alienated by man, and by his own artefacts, starting with the affections of the human body. The challenge here will be to identify some of the specific nodes of an anthropological notion of asceticism that is clearly dissociated from the forbidden, the ritual or the magical. We postulate that this detour through Antiquity brings us back to the key question of anthropology: the idea of man, or of a human nature, as the primary term of any political construction. | ||

Alors que celle-ci fut considérée par Émile Durkheim et Max Weber comme un épiphénomène du religieux, le cas Diogène nous ramène à une conception politique de l'ascèse, lui qui pense l'aliénation de l'homme par l'homme comme par ses propres artefacts, et ce, depuis les affections du corps humain. L'enjeu sera ici de cerner quelques nœuds spécifiques d'une notion anthropologique d'ascèse fermement dissociée de l'interdit, du rituel ou de la magie, en postulant que ce détour antique nous ramène à la question princeps de l'anthropologie : l'idée de l'homme ou d'une nature humaine comme terme premier de toute réflexion politique. | ||
