| 520 | |a The laying on of hands through the practice of the spiritist "passe" (SP) is found in the literature as an expression of popular health care. The objective of this scoping review was to identify the available evidence on the use of SP as a health care practice. Searches were performed in the SciELO, Lilacs, Pubmed, Embase, CINAHL, Cochrane, PsycINFO, PePSIC, Scopus, and Google Scholar databases/libraries, without time restriction. After applying the inclusion/exclusion criteria, the corpus resulted in 27 studies. Studies by Brazilian authors (81%) published between 2013 and 2022 (78%) predominated. SP was used as a single therapy or as part of a set of complementary spiritist therapies. The studies took place predominantly in the hospital context and in spiritist centers. The methodological variety of the studies portrays different ways of thinking about the phenomenon and, consequently, its implications in the health-disease process. Randomized and controlled clinical studies showed evidence of the positive effect of SP and instigate the expansion of this field of research and deepening. The evaluation of such practice reinforces the need to provide aspects of humanization that are part of the ontological field of subjects. | ||
