Description
Summary:In this article, I offer an analysis of the main lines of Edward Feser's metaphysics. The article has three parts: In the first one, I introduce this philosophical project as a contemporary version of that particular strand of the Neo-scholastic movement that conceives of metaphysics as an intellectual enterprise that aims at justifying the commonsensical world view. In the second and larger part, I discuss three of the main publications by Feser in accordance with the outlined Neo-scholastic view. In the third and final part, I make some observations, in which I present strengths and risks that are related to this type of metaphysics.Edward Feser, Scholastic Metaphysics: A Contemporary Introduction, Heusenstamm: Editiones Scholasticae, 2014. 302 S. -, Fünf Gottesbeweise: Aristoteles, Plotin, Augustinus, Thomas von Aquin, Leibniz, Übers. von Rafael Hüntelmann, Neunkirchen-Seelscheid: Editiones Scholasticae, 2018. 330 S. -, Aristotle's Revenge: The Metaphysical Foundations of Physical and Biological Science, Neunkirchen-Seelscheid: Editiones Scholasticae, 2019. 515 S.
