This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted with 147 patients in the Cardiovascular Surgery Intensive Care Unit of a training and research hospital in Izmir, a province in western Turkey, between May 1, 2022 and November 1, 2022. The comfort level of the patients who had undergone open-heart surgery was moderate, and the levels of their spiritual care needs were high. A statistically significant relationship was found between the patients' Perianesthesia Comfort Scale total score and the Spiritual Care Needs Inventory (p < 0.05). We concluded that the patients' comfort levels decreased as their spiritual care needs increased. We recommend authors to conduct studies in the future which should include different sample groups and compare the data obtained before and after the surgery.
