| 520 | |a The growing phenomenon of pluralism raises two crucial questions for theology: can theology be plural and, specifically in the case of the theology within the Catholic Church, would the co-existence of various theologies bepossible without jeopardising the unity or the catholicity of Faith? The answer to these questions involves, at the very beginning, a clear definition of the semantic of theology in relation to pluralism, that is to say, we must make clear what we mean by “theology” and, in particular, what place it occupies in a context of cultural and religious pluralism. From here, the “what” of theology takes us to the “how” of theology, i.e., to its syntax as operating mode of this object in a plural context. With this purpose, we review the various theological paradigms, from the point of view of pluralism, to ftnd out howfar the histoiy of theology expresses in this method the increasingly pressing challenge of an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinaiy knowledge in a deliberately pluricultural world. | ||

A resposta a estas questões implica em começar por precisar a semântica da teologia em relação ao pluralismo, ou seja, em explicitar o que se entende por ‘teologia’ e como situá-la num contexto de pluralismo cultural e religioso, principalmente. A partir daí, o ‘o que' da teologia leva ao ‘como' da teologia, ou seja, à sua sintaxe, enquanto modo operativo de seu objeto num contexto plural. Para isso, passa-se em revista os diversos paradigmas teológicos, sob o viés do pluralismo, para averiguar até que ponto a história da teologia expressa em seu método o desafio, cada vez maispremente, de um saber inter e trans- disciplinar num mundo deliberadamente pluricultural. | ||
