Emergent themes of pre-recovery periods were futile attempts to nurture a connection with the sacred, lack of connectedness, and spiritual struggles leading to sanctifying substances. Emergent themes during sobriety were spiritual experiences and shifts away from traditional religious organizations. Results highlight the importance of addressing spiritual struggles and facilitating the exploration of meaningful conservation practices in addiction treatment. | ||
