| 520 | |a Este estudo explora o sistema cultural dos imigrantes italianos que chegaram ao Rio Grande do Sul, principalmente na Região da Serra Gaúcha, por volta de 1870, enfocando especialmente sua relação com a religião católica, mediada por agentes religiosos. A religião católica foi um pilar essencial para a organização das novas comunidades formadas pelos imigrantes italianos, proporcio-nando a eles identidade cultural, força para enfrentar as dificuldades no novo território e integração social. Tem-se como corpus fontes bibliográficas, escritas, na sua maioria, por representantes do clero dessa região. Para a realização desta pesquisa são postos em relação a perspectiva de cientistas da religião e sociólogos e de relatos de imigrantes italianos. Como resultado, observa-se que a fé desempenhou um papel determinante nessa reconstrução cultural, com a construção de capelas e realização de ritos e festas que uniram as comunidades em torno do trabalho, da família e da fé. | ||

Catholicism served as a fundamental pillar in the organization of the new communities formed by Italian immigrants, providing them with cultural identity, strength to face the challenges of the new territory, and social integration. The corpus is composed of bibliographical sources, mostly written by clergy members from that region. For the development of this research, the perspectives of scholars of religion, sociologists, and accounts from Italian immigrants are brought into dialogue. The results show that faith played a decisive role in this cultural reconstruction, through the building of chapels and the celebration of rituals and festivals that united communities around work, family, and faith. | ||
