Efforts to research Islam on the academic level, as impartially and as free from prejudice as possible, are therefore of the utmost importance. Western civilization and technology have been adopted in the Islamic world, whereas as far as the humanities are concerned, an attitude of unconditional acceptance coexists with one of total re‐jection. Critical discussion and argument with the West can and must in no way be separated from a thoroughgoing Islamic self‐criticism. | ||
