Der Band bietet Texte, die Melanchthons intellektuelle Leistungen für den gesamten universitären Fächerkanon seiner Zeit exemplarisch deutlich werden lassen. Ein gewisser Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Artistenfakultät, doch ist die Theologische Fakultät als zweite universitäre Heimat Melanchthons ebenfalls stark vertreten. Die Fakultäten der Juristen und Mediziner sind gleichfalls berücksichtigt. Das zeitliche Spektrum reicht von 1518 bis 1558: vom ganz jungen bis zum ganz alten Melanchthon. - Since his student days in Heidelberg and Tübingen, the university for Melanchthon served as the frame of his intellectual and spiritual life. In his role as organizer and reformer he influenced the structures of Wittenberg University far beyond his death, turning it into a much-emulated model of a Protestant university. This volume contains a selection of texts that reveal the exemplary significance of Melanchthon s intellectual achievements for the entire curriculum of his time. Specific emphasis is put upon the liberal arts, but the faculty of theology as Melanchthon s second academic home is also strongly represented. The faculties of law and medicine are also accounted for. The period considered ranges from 1518 to 1558 from the time when Melanchthon was very young to his old age.
