Description
Résumé:It is argued that contemporary militant Islam, if viewed in historical perspective, would appear rather as a continuous religious undercurrent, which recently acquired special significance to the Muslim masses because of the frustration of religio-nationalist hopes, in whose awakening the reformist Salafiyya movement played a decisive role. Economic analysis alone is therefore not sufficient to explain the general phenomenon of militant Islam, nor even important episodes of it. (DÜI-Asd)
