| Summary: | An essay is presented which discusses the role of rabbis in the Jewish state of Israel, referencing the history of rabbis from the destruction of the First Temple, Jerusalem in 70 AD through the early 21st century and the history of Israel from 1948 through the mid 2010s. The author describes Israel as a theocratic parliamentary democracy, in which there is not freedom of religion, and as an ethnocracy of institutionalized discrimination against ethnic minorities.
